The Panerai Radiomir Black Seal watch was originally made for the Royal Italian Navy in 1938. The watch is known for its large size, its incredible robustness, its reliability and its legibility and came in a water-resistant case.
To explain these characteristics in simple terms - The Radiomir works in extreme weather conditions without a problem, you can rely on it to keep accurate time in all conditions and even under water you can clearly see dial and the numbers.
Despite its robustness and reliability the Radiomir Black Seal is not a clunky piece of work. It's got a quiet elegance about it. In 1997 a replica of the original was released as a limited edition. Only 60 of these units were sold. It is extremely rare. It became much sought after by collectors around the world for its elegant design, robust functionality, its cushion case, patented strap attachments and its technical features. Panerai are known the world over for excellence in watchmaking and Radiomir Black Seal embodies all these qualities in the highest of these traditions.
A contemporary Radiomir collection is available in the following variations -
Radiomir Black Seal Automatic
Radiomir Chronograph
Radiomir GMT-Alarm, and
Radiomir Chrono Rattrapante
All the above Radiomir watches share the common traits of extreme reliability and sturdiness even in the harshest conditions. They retain the distinctive characteristics of the Radiomir brand i.e. the large size and the legibility of the dial when immersed in water. The Radiomir was the first watch created by Panerai and the excellent pedigree of the brand is visible from the very models it ever created.
